Swimming Lessons & Bowling

We decided to break up the monotony of winter a bit with swimming lessons and a homeschool bowling session (6 weeks each). What a lot of fun!

Bagpiping

John has been practicing a lot on his pipes (and sounds fantastic!) and is considering joining the Salt Lake Scots pipe band. It is a huge time committment and conflicts with scouts, but it would be a fun thing to do!

Broken Toe

I was doing laundry a couple of weeks ago and stubbed my toe. I turns out that I actually broke it. Fortunately, it wasn't bad and didn't need intervention more than getting wrapped daily. Can you tell which toe? The bruise is gone now, but every once in awhile it hurts a lot!

The Taming of the Shrew

Timpview High School recently put on a production of Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew." John was cast as one of the servants. They performed six shows and everyone did a fantastic job! There are two short video clips at the end of this post--just click on the arrow to watch and enjoy.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's was fun this year. Will took his friend Danielle to the school valentine dance and Jared took me to our stake valentine dance. We put our valentine bags up at the beginning of February and they are still up. Everyone has had fun putting surprises in others' bags! We had a homeschool skating party for valentine's, too. We passed out 180 homemade valentines and got the same number back. That was a lot of candy! The best was that someone handed out homemade playdough and Jacob thought it was candy and took a big bite! Not too tasty . . .

Sarah's Birthday

Sarah had her first birthday party this year. It was a cooking party, where everyone made their own pizza. While the pizzas were cooking, the kids watched a puppet show (Dad's specialty). After pizza, they decorated cookies. Everyone had a wonderful time. Thanks, Mom, for letting us use your kitchen!
